As women, we’re subtly, and sometimes overtly, encouraged to abandon the softer, more intuitive aspects of our nature in favour of hustle and grind. Femininity, with its innate softness, nurturing, and fluidity, is often mislabeled as weak, impractical, or unfit for leadership and success.

Well, "Booooo" to that! What if the very softness we’ve been told to suppress is actually our greatest source of strength and power? What if our ability to nurture, to hold space for others, to feel deeply, and to move with the natural rhythms of life is precisely what the world needs?

There’s a pervasive belief that softness is passive, weak, and ineffective - qualities to be avoided if we want to succeed or be taken seriously. We’ve been conditioned to think that "soft" means being easily taken advantage of, submissive, or lacking in drive and direction. And yet, nothing could be further from the truth.

Softness is not passivity; it’s presence! It’s the ability to hold space for yourself and others, to remain open and receptive, even in the face of discomfort or uncertainty. Softness is the willingness to surrender, to trust, and to allow life to unfold, rather than forcing outcomes. This takes an awesome amount of strength - a strength that doesn’t come from controlling situations but rather from navigating them with grace and resilience.

Think about it: It takes courage to be vulnerable, to show up as you truly are, and to honour your emotions rather than suppress them. It takes immense inner strength to stand and face adversity, and to hold your sense of self. It requires deep rivers of fortitude to nurture others, to show up in support without depleting yourself, and to listen deeply to the wisdom of your own body and intuition.

The softness of the feminine is not weakness; it’s the quiet, unshakable strength of being fully rooted in who you are. When we redefine softness as a source of power, we start to see it for what it truly is: the source of unshakable resilience, adaptability, and deep knowing.

But water has the power to carve through mountains, erode rock, and shape the land itself. It’s the ultimate paradox: soft and flexible, yet undeniably powerful.

In the same way, the feminine embodies a strength that is rooted in flow and adaptability. Like water, we have the feminine force of flow and can move around obstacles, shape our surroundings, and create change not by brute force, but through persistence, fluidity, and grace. The feminine knows when to yield, when to flow, and when to stand firm - just like the rivers that cut through rock or the ocean waves that wear down cliffs over time.

The earth itself also embodies this nurturing, feminine power. The ground we walk on, though steady and solid, is constantly in a process of growth and regeneration. It’s soft in its ability to sustain life, to nurture seeds into plants, to provide nourishment, and to hold space for all living things. Yet it’s unbreakable in its resilience and ability to regenerate, no matter what challenges it faces.

  2. Practice Vulnerability in Relationships: Softness also means allowing yourself to be vulnerable, particularly in your relationships. This can feel uncomfortable, especially if you’ve been taught to keep your guard up or to always be "strong." But vulnerability is where true connection happens. Whether it’s with a partner, friend, or family member, practice sharing your feelings openly and honestly. Let them see the soft, raw parts of you - it’s in this vulnerability that real intimacy and trust can grow.

  3. Lean into Intuition: One of the greatest strengths of the feminine is its deep connection to intuition. Softness invites you to listen to the quiet, subtle whispers of your inner knowing. Instead of always pushing for answers or solutions, give yourself permission to sit with uncertainty. Trust that your intuition will guide you in the right direction, even when things feel unclear.

Softness as a Tool for Healing - Leaning Into ‘Being’ for Transformation


One of the most profound gifts I received by letting down my protective shield and embracing softness is the ability to heal - emotionally, mentally, and physically. In a world that seems to constantly pushes us to do more, be more, and achieve more - making us feel as though we are not enough, softness invites us to simply be.

Healing cannot happen in a state of constant doing. It requires stillness, presence, and a willingness to allow whatever needs to surface to come to the light. Softness gives us the space to let go of the need for control and to trust that our bodies know what to do with our emotions when we get out of they way and allow healing to happen.

I’ve experienced this firsthand. For years, I protected myself behind false fronts of "toughness" so I never appeared weak and couldn't get hurt again as well as "busyness" so that I didn't appear lazy, incapable or small. I kept my emotions hidden, pushed myself beyond my limits, and wore my independence as a badge of honour. But deep down, I was exhausted and lost to myself - mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.

It wasn’t until I gave myself space and allowed myself to soften that I began to reclaim all the parts of myself that I had been hiding and shrinking. I started small - taking moments throughout the day to breathe deeply, to feel into my body, to speak nicely to myself and to just take 5 minutes or a day when I needed it. I leaned into my vulnerability, first getting to know my deeper struggles for myself and then slowly feeling safe enough to share them with people close to me, and then allowing myself to receive their support. I began to reconnect with my intuition once my body began to relax and let go of all the things I was trying to control, so I could trust my inner guidance again rather than constantly seeking external answers.

In this softness, I found my healing. I found self-compassion. And I found a strength I never knew existed - the strength of simply being me... Just As I Am.

Healing through softness requires patience and trust. It’s about honouring the natural rhythms of your body and emotions, rather than forcing change or "fixing" yourself. It’s about allowing yourself whatever it is you honestly need - to rest, to cry, to feel, to express and to be vulnerable. And it’s about trusting that in this softness, you are not weak - you are powerful.
