After a beautiful conversation with a member of my Embodied Movement class last night, I feel a need to share something profound and yet simple that is often overlooked as women find their way of showing up in the world. My insight originated from a book I read a long time ago 'The Four Agreements', and what I have to share goes like this; "Perfection - I have learnt, exists only within our ability to accept and be imperfect."
Like many women I have worked with throughout the years, I used to believe that if I could just get everything right - organised, balanced, beautiful - then I'd finally feel at peace. Instead, all I ever found was more to do as I constantly swam upstream, fighting the tide and going completely against my own natural rhythms.
I have learnt the hard way that our feminine bodies weren't designed for any kind of constant, linear productivity. And although the world all too often demands that we operate like machines... we are cyclical, flowing beings!

The Perfectionism Trap: When Linear Meets Cyclical
In our modern world, perfectionism often looks like:
Pushing through exhaustion because "rest isn't productive"
Feeling guilty for craving solitude when our souls need introspection
Forcing ourselves to "show up" when our bodies are begging for gentleness
Comparing our behind-the-scenes to everyone else's highlight reel
Saying "yes" when we really want to say "no"
Our bodies deepest wisdom lies in the ebbs and flows, in the cycles and seasons. It speaks in whispers, in nudges, and in the quiet moments between the doing. Yet we've been conditioned to override these natural rhythms and subtle cues in pursuit of an impossible standard of consistency and perfection. There is a better way. There is a slower, gentler, more sustainable way.
Finding Your Flow: Embodied Wisdom in Action
Instead of fighting against our nature, what if we learned to flow with it? Want to now how to begin:
Listen to Your Body: Notice how your energy, creativity, and needs change naturally. There's wisdom in these shifts.
Honour Your Rhythms:
When solitude calls, turn inward
When you feel called to rest, rest
When creativity flows, let it pour out
When you need connection, reach out
When someone offers you help, accept it

Create Flexible Structures:
Design your days around your natural ebbs and flows, not despite them. this might look like;
Working in focused bursts when you feel excited, rather than forcing yourself to stick to rigid 9-5 hours
Setting aside "white space" in your calendar for spontaneity and flow
Creating a morning routine that's adaptable - some days it's journaling, others it's dancing
Keeping a "could do" list instead of a "to-do" list, allowing yourself to choose tasks based on your energy
Scheduling important conversations or meetings when you naturally feel more expressive and connected
Having "backup plans" for low-energy days - simple meals, gentle movement, essential tasks only
Building in buffer time between commitments to allow for natural transitions
Setting up your environment to support different needs - a cosy corner for reflection, a space for movement
Using time-blocking loosely - "morning" instead of "9am" - giving yourself permission to flow within structure
Having different types of work available - creative, analytical, physical - so you can match your task to your energy
Creating rituals that can expand or contract based on your needs and available time - (I call these vital bites of time "Me Moments")
Keeping some routines sacred while allowing flexibility in how you approach them
Structure isn't the enemy - but rigid, unyielding structure is. The key is to create a framework that supports your natural rhythms while still helping you move toward your desires and goals. This is your masculine energy supporting your feminine energy in a safe and secure space.
Practical Steps for Embracing Imperfect Flow
Start your day with a moment of presence. How does your body feel? What does your heart need?
Set boundaries that honour your current needs. "No." can stand alone as a complete sentence, Beauty!
Move in ways that feel good. Some days that's dancing, others it's gentle stretching, other days it's stillness.
And this only just touches the surface of how you can deliberately bring more space and authentic rhythm to your life.

Real Talk: Living Fluidly in a Rigid World
Yes, we still have deadlines, responsibilities, and people depending on us. But I promise you, it's the small things that will make the biggest difference in how you show up in your world:
Trust your intuition about timing
Allow space for things to unfold naturally
Embrace the beauty of "good enough"
Your "imperfections" are often your inner wisdom speaking. Those moments when you feel called to slow down? That's not "laziness", that's your body's intelligence. The times when you're bursting with energy? That's not "over-the-top", that's your natural vitality and joy in action.
A gentle Invitation
Today, I invite you to experiment with embracing your natural flow. Start small:
Notice without judgment
Listen without immediately acting
Allow without forcing
In the upcoming H.E.R. Wayâ„¢ practices, we're exploring this dance between doing and being. We're learning to trust the wisdom of our bodies and to move with our natural rhythms, not against them.
You don't have to figure this out alone. If you're ready to explore a more embodied way of living, I'm here to support you. Whether through online programs, in-person classes, workshops or simply subscribing to these posts - I want to walk with you in your journey from perfection to flow.
You cannot fail at this. You cannot get it wrong, because it comes from within you - this path of unfolding, perfect, imperfection. You're WOMAN - beautiful, deep, cyclic, rhythmic. You're human. You're natural. You're perfectly imperfect!
And that, dear Beauty, is your superpower.
